Money means so much to us
Let us explain what we mean.
Money is an enabler, not the objective
We don’t see money as the finish line, it’s a tool. I know that everyone says the same thing. But for us it’s a tool to fulfill our dreams as a family, but also to fill the dreams of our kids. Right now and in the future. At the moment their dreams are really small everyday things, but eventually they grow and we want to be able to make them come true. If our kids want to open up a restaurant, instead of pursuing an investment banking career, we would be delighted to be able to offer them the financial possibility to do it.
Freedom to pursue what truly matters
Financial independence isn’t about luxury, it’s about freedom. The freedom to spend time with our kids, to build meaningful projects, and to live life on our own timeline. Money can enable us to pursue things that give us purpose in life. We would be devastated if our kids end up going to the job they hate, working for people they don’t like. Just to be able to live. By building them a portfolio right from the start, we believe they won’t ever have to be in that position.
Peace of mind and security
Money gives stability and calm. Knowing that the essentials are covered and that unexpected turns in life can be managed. Security is the foundation that lets us focus on what’s important. We know what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck and to constantly stress about financials. Do we really want our kids to grow up to that and continue on the same track? That is the reality for most Finns. And they don’t even know that there’s something better. Money can also buy time by giving us the option to slow down, be present, and enjoy the moments that actually matter.
Teaching our kids the value of things
Our children learn through what we do, not what we say. Teaching them that value isn’t just about price tags, but about thoughtfulness, effort, and gratitude. That’s part of our family’s financial journey.
Legacy
We think about wealth not just in terms of numbers, but in terms of values passed on. Building something that benefits the next generation, and the generation after them. That’s a mindset of patience, curiosity, and consistency. No one has done that before us in our families. People have just lived their lives paycheck to paycheck. Working for almost their whole lives for someone else. Someone has to be the first one to take a little hit in their own standard of living, to be able to help the coming generations. We truly believe that we (our family) are the start of a shift in the mindset in our family line. But to be honest, we are propably also the first generation in our family lines that has the ability to financially do it. So it is our responsibility.
